Advertising Policy

How sponsored content works on BoredMondays, what we don't allow, and how to report an ad.

No advertising is currently live.

This policy describes how sponsored content will work when it launches. We built the safety architecture first.

What "Sponsored" means

Some Picks may be paid for by brands. We'll clearly label them with SPONSORED or SPONSORED BY [BRAND] placed immediately above the question. The label is always visible — on the Pick, on share cards, in Packs, and in Rooms.

How brands are reviewed

Every advertiser must be a verified business with a signed agreement. Every campaign requires human review — brand verification, category review, claim substantiation, legal review, safety review, and minor review. Advertisers cannot self-publish.

What we don't allow

Tobacco, nicotine, vaping, marijuana, illegal drugs, weapons, firearms, pornography, adult sexual services, gambling, payday lending, unregulated supplements, weight-loss drugs, political candidates, and election advocacy. Advertisers cannot target based on race, religion, sexual orientation, health, disability, financial hardship, or precise location.

Advertising to teens

Sponsored content for users under 18 is contextual only — never based on Pick history, BoredMirror, friend graph, DMs, or any behavioral profile. Teen-facing categories are restricted to age-appropriate contexts like sports, food, games, clothing, and family entertainment. All teen campaigns require human review.

What information sponsors receive

Brands receive aggregate campaign results only — total responses, option percentages, completion rate. They never receive your name, email, individual votes, DMs, MyInsight, BoredMirror profile, safety history, or age-verification data. Cohorts below our minimum size are suppressed so no one can be identified.

What we never use to choose ads

We never use your private messages, BoredMirror insights, safety reports, blocks, moderation history, age-verification evidence, or precise location to select sponsored content. These prohibitions are permanent in our architecture.

How to report an ad

Every Sponsored Pick has a "Report this ad" option. You can report misleading, scam, age-inappropriate, offensive, or repetitive ads, or hide a sponsor entirely. High-risk reports automatically pause the campaign pending review.

Your privacy choices

If applicable privacy law gives you a right to opt out of sale/sharing or targeted advertising, we honor it. Global Privacy Control signals are detected and respected. You can manage your privacy choices in the Privacy Center.
